Women’s liberation has changed the way that women think about things, and approach them, in many different ways. All of this has created some confusion, and some men aren’t quiet sure what women want from them anymore. Do they still want a man dripping with testosterone who will carry them off into the sunset? Relationship Guides
Many people transition from casual dating to a committed relationship, but how can you determine when that is occurring? Sometimes it feels like it takes a long time, while other times it feels like it happens too fast. Regardless, drawing the line between casual dating and a serious relationship and the transition between the two is not always easy. Luckily, there are certain sighs which can show you that your relationship is becoming more serious. Many of these signs are described below.
Spending Time with His or Her Family
If the person you are dating asks you to meet or spend time with his or her parents, it is likely that the relationship is moving to a more serious level. Whenever someone who is dating someone introduces their partner to their family, they are allowing their family to make judgments about that person as a potential husband or wife. After dating for a while, your partner may ask you if you would like to spend the holidays with his or her family. This may seem like a casual request, but it is much more than that. He or she not only feels comfortable introducing you to the scrutiny of his or her immediate family, but also the extended family. Any time spent with his or her family is a clear indication that the relationship is moving from casual to serious.
Asking to Date you Exclusively
If your partner asks you if you are dating other people too, you will most likely say you’re not, even if you are. Asking this question can indicate that your partner is preparing to ask you to date him or her exclusively. Once this happens, the relationship moves from casual dating to the beginning of a serious relationship. Dating exclusively is often thought of in different ways depending on gender. Woman often see dating exclusively as the start of a serious relationship, however many men may just think of it as a more simplified way of dating. Regardless of how it is perceived, being asked to date someone exclusively is an indication that the relationship is becoming more committed.
Spending Time Together without Activities
When people start dating, they generally try to impress each other with showy things and impressive dates. When they are in a relationship, they can still do those things on occasion, but tend to spend more time together watching TV, eating pizza together, or spending the night in rather than going out. Many people think of this as the romance dying and regard it with negativity. This is not really the case. The need to go out of your way to impress each other may have declined, but it has been traded for feeling comfortable with one another. In many ways, this is better. You are moving toward a committed relationship in which you can enjoy spending time together relaxing as well as doing activities together Trusting and being comfortable with one another is the key to a successful committed relationship in the future and should not be regarded with negativity.
Disagreements
With the comfort zone comes the feeling that each partner can express his or herself more openly. This, of course, leads to the discovery of conflicting opinions. Every couple has disagreements. People who are in a serious relationship have learned how to handle these disagreements in a way that does not jeopardize the relationship. Settling disagreements can actually serve to greatly strengthen relationships. Working together to come up with a solution to disputes while being respectful to one another indicates a strong relationship. Again, the ability to freely express yourself to your partner, even if he or she may disagree with you is a sign of a growing relationship and the ability to settle this dispute without fear of the relationship ending is a further sign of the growing commitment between the two of you.
These are not the only signs that a relationship is moving from casual to serious, but are some of the most easy to recognize indications. If you are unsure where your relationship is headed, communication with your partner is key. The transition from casual dating to a serious relationship is not always clear cut or easy to detect, but becomes much easier when watching for the signs described above.
